My brother first showed me it, and I had no idea what was going on. So one night when I was home alone I watched it again to see if I could understand it better. When that failed, I watched it again, and still got no where. I havent watched it since then, probabaly because I'd confuse myself all over again. The theories are too bloody conflicting. At least you got an immediate conclusion.
I wouldnt say its a favourite, but I definitely like it. Its one I recommend to people to watch. |

It's in my list of about 30, I love trippy weird shit like Donnie Darko, and it's a bit of a childhood film. My sister introduced me to it, back in 2003 around here everyone who was 16-18 were wearing Nirvana hoodies, listening to Placebo and their favourite film was Donnie Darko.

I saw it around about that time too, I think I was 11 or 12. I remember all my brothers mates would come along and watch it, and then just comment on how trippy it was for a few hours. Nirvana, Placebo and Donnie Darko? Sounds like a cool crowd. Here we got Warcraft, Blink 182 and The Return of the King -.-
What else is on your list of 30? |

Lots of good movies in there, although I have the feeling I've seen that list before.. Must of been another thread.
Snaps for Forrest Gump, Hot Fuzz, Kill Bills, Lock Stock, Snatch, Superbad and Trainspotting. Green Mile made me cry, but In Bruges and Eternal Sunshine? I hated those movies. Clockwork Orange is cult, but I didnt really enjoy it. Loved Catch Me If You Can though, Leo DiCaprio is amazing |

You've seen it in the favourite movies of all time thread, surprisingly.
How can you hate Eternal Sunshine and In Bruges? You weirdo. Eternal Sunshine was a beautiful story and In Bruges was just fun from start to finish. I love every film Leonardo has done, he's probably my favourite actor. I even like Titanic, it was my favourite all time film as a kid, no idea why. But despite it being a bit ghey, Leo was great in it. |

Ha, fancy that
Well, In Bruges was very very dark humour, which usually I love, but this one was tragic. I was expecting it to be quite up-beat, but instead the storyline kept transforming. Plus there was the suicide motif which frankly, I got sick of. Eternal Sunsine had no redeeming qualities. Usually I love Kate Winslet, but this confused me and I found no quality to enjoy. I didnt think she and Jim Carrey had much chemistry and that whole dream with him being a child under the table weirded me out. Titanic on the other hand, I love. Maybe because its a soppy-ish love story, and its so doomed yet so romantic. It is a bit long though, and I dont see why they always play it on tv around Christmas and New Years, but it is a great story with fantastic acting. Both Kate and Leo shine. |

In Bruges was dark and really funny, and then it took a turn and went tragic. It has a funny dwarf in it, even towards the end it was funny. I love In Bruges, brilliant comedy-drama.
Eternal explored great ideas, that feeling of wanting to rid yourself of something, but once you do you begin to miss it. I thought it was displayed on screen wonderfully, and it had its weird moments, but I like weird. I love a good disaster film, The Titanic was that. The only way they could do it is having a sub-story, something to show before the boat sinks. A love story is the only thing they could've really gone for, which is a shame because it makes it more chick flick than disaster movie. But I loved it as a kid, and although I don't love it now. I felt it was well acted, all be it sentimental. I can't stand sentiment in films, that's one of the reasons I really dislike Spielberg. Oh and if you have a problem with the length of Titanic: |

Disaster films arent really my thing, but I dont mind them. Are you one of those 2012 types? But what do you mean you dont like sentiments in films? As in, no love stories at all?
Thanks for the link, it really grasped the heart of the story |

And I hate other kinds of soppy sentimental crap, such as E.T. I prefer more brutal pieces of work, or if a film contains sentiment, it has to be real and come from a real place. Not just cliché and fake. |
