I don't know if it could be classified as bizarre or trippy, but Akira Kurosawa's Dreams was intensely surreal. There's a film coming out called Gendai no No that Kurosawa never finished shooting in the 80s and his son has taken it off the shelf to add another 60 minutes to it! If all goes according to plan, it should be coming out on Kurosawa's 100th birthday!

I never heard about that. That sounds ****in' cool. The dream scene from Kagemusha was pretty tripped-out. And there were parts in Dreams that were really bizarre.

I think they're not mentioned, but I absolutely love these Polanski's films:
Repulsion (1965) and The Tenant (1976)

Also, there are lots of great 70's trippy movies like: Picnic at Hanging Rock (1975)by Peter Wier, Don't Look Now (1973) by Nicolas Roeg, The Wicker Man (1973) and this overlooked film which is not from 70's but is very atmospheric and unsettling and has a similar vibe as Don't Look Now, and also the same setting-Venice - The Comfort of Strangers (1990) by Paul Schrader.

I see that Lynch is mentioned often. I'll add INLAND EMPIRE (2006) which is by far his most avantgarde and bizarre film to date. He totally let his subconsciousness go, or he has an acid instead of the brain, you decide. Lynch is one of my favorite directors, but even for me it was too much on the first viewing, but as is always the case with his films, it just draws you to see it again and again.

The only one I can think of at the moment is Mirrormask - which is admittedly more of a young person's movie, but I'm a young person.

Not quite bizarre, but trippy? Certainly. The main character always reminded me a bit of me, which helps.

Across The Universe.
The Beatles (: And some really weird moments, plus Eddie Izzard!

Agreed on D.Lynch, and not only for eraserhead. My personal favorites are Inland Empire and Mulholland Dr.

Also, watch The Rabbits by him (it's on youtube). Literal Mind****. I doubt that Rabbits even has a meaning at all. Open for interpretation I guess.
