cigarandyak,
They did add Little Mac as an assist, but I think he should have been playable. And King Hippo as a boss would be unbelievably awesome. Anyway. I use the GC controller, its certainly the best choice. Nunchuck is ok and surprisingly easy to use, Classic is a little akward at least with the default configuration, and using the Wiimote just plain sucks. |

I'm just curious, has anyone unlocked everything yet? As in all the trophies, cds, stickers, stage builder pieces?
I want to know how many golden hammers there are, and how to get them. Because some of the things I have to do to get certain CDs and trophies are damn near impossible. |

Its certainly better than Melee in my opinion.
-Anyone who says the graphics are only slightly beefed up Melee graphics are wrong. Stages like Lylat Cruise and Halberd are just amazing to look at it. -Characters are more well balanced than in Melee, characters that used to be top tier and overpowered like Marth and Fox have been nerfed a bit, while Melees low tier characters like Kirby and Yoshi have improved in a lot of ways. Every character is fun to play as in my opinion. -The variety of music is amazing. And most of the music is just superb. -The customization in controls is just excellent, so even if you only have 2 GC controls, you can still have 4 play at once if theres two nunchucks. -The fanservice. Sonic, check. Zero Suits boobs, check. Cameos and references from just about every Nintendo game ever made, check. -For the first time in the series, the single player is good enough on its own. Subspace mode is a nice throwback to the beat em up genre, as well as the Kirby series. -Most of the items from Melee are still here, with many new cool items to change the tide of any battle. Assist Trophies are great, but Final Smashes are certainly the coolest new feature. Theres less emphasis on technique and tiers than Melee, so for that the super hardcore will still prefer Melee for their tourneys. But I find those chaps annoying anyway. According to my data, Sonic is my most used character, with Mario in second. Ganondorf is my lonliest character. Sure the guy packs power, but as Sonic puts it. I'm not sure if i'd call myself hardcore. I love the fact that fights could be unpredictable and the loser could become even within seconds, while it remained more than a buttonbasher. A balance of technique and chaos is important.
Watching the videos i get the impression Sonic is a bit crap, looks a bit weak, nice and fast though. I'm looking forward to using the Pokemon trainer. And Ganondorf sucks. |

Well, you got the wrong impression.
The only real cons about Sonic is he is a light character with no kill moves, but his pros more than make up for it. Those videos are just n00bs who cant handle Sonics speed, which is key to using him effectively. Used right, Sonic can be damn near IMPOSSIBLE to hit, he's so damn fast that if you use him with a bunny hood on the Big Blue stage, you can actually OUTRUN the cars. He's also an amazing recovery character and has a very high triple jump. Add to that a final smash thats very good if used by someone who dosen't suck, you have an awesome Smash character. But you're right about the gameplay. I don't like most buttonmashers and I like the strategy aspect of it, but what really makes it exciting is the chaos, which makes matches very unpredictable. This is why I don't understand why people buy the game just to play on the most basic stage, with no items and the same f*cking characters every time. I mean, just look at this. IGN Boards - super smash bros. brawl sucks. Now thats what I call a tool. Last edited by boo boo; 04-01-2008 at 06:37 AM. |

Haha the bit about communist Nintendo made me laugh
That bloke obviously isn't as much of a fan as he thinks he is, Smash Bros i'd say is about playing as everyone (its one of those great fighting games that, ignoring the clones, every fighter is unique) and having **** loads of items thrown at you. Different strokes for different folks though, if you want to play on the basic stage and overanalyse everything then fine. How does the online multiplayer perform? |

My favorite part is when he said that the only people who like Brawl are those who sucked at Melee.
I still don't have wi-fi (sorry Matious ) so I haven't gotten to try online yet. From what I've heard, with friends it works fine, but with anyone it has its fair share of problems. On that mode, the data for your matches are not saved, and you can't review the score or any information about who you are playing with. Add to that theres no voice chat or any real way of communicating with anyone online so you can't ask them for their friend code, which is lame as crap. Also, matches will lag the bigger the location gap between online players. |
