Anyway. I have been playing this game so much.
Unlike Melee, I really do enjoy playing every character and stage. Tiers matter not, because every character is fun to play, regardless of their effectiveness. To those who have yet to play this game, here is what to expect from every character. Mario - Seems to have gotten a little weaker, but he's still the all around character. Not a big fan of his new down b since it dosen't even deal any damage, and it hasn't been as useful of an edge guard as I expected, but I probably just suck at using it. His air game has gotten better now that his former down b is now his down air. His final smash is pretty good if you aim it right. Link - Improved in some areas, nerfed in others. His bombs will always hurt him now if he's too close, regardless of how they are thrown, which sucks. He dosen't have his rapid A anymore. However the fact that you can charge b up now is pretty sweet and the pull effect of his gale bombering can be pretty useful at least on smaller targets. His down air lag is not as bad as it used to be which is good because you can't L cancel anymore. And he has one of my favorite final smashes. Pikachu - Dosen't really seem all that different. I love Pikachu for his combination of speed and effective attacks. He's still light as all hell. His final smash is even harder to control than Sonics. Kirby - Has improved, a LOT. His new dash attack is a lot better than his old one because like Luigis it can score multiple hits. He seems a bit more powerful than before too and his air game is a little better. And more Kirby hats is always a welcome addition. He was one of my mains for Melee, and that hasn't changed now. His final smash is one thats only very effective if your opponent has taken a decent deal of damage. Donkey Kong - He's even bigger than he was in Melee, making him a bigger target. Sad to say he's been nerfed a bit. His up b has some landing lag now and his standard b now has less range and is a little weaker, a shame because it was my favorite move from Melee. Still though, the headbutt and then giant punch method is still my favorite combo in the game. His down b is better and its still THE move to use in multi man Brawl. His final smash is not as bad as everyone says, its just hard as **** to use effectively, you have to use it a lot to get it right, once you do though its actually not bad, works better on smaller stages too. Yoshi - Better. His up b now counts as a third jump, which can be used repeatedly in the air giving him a lot of mid air jumps, which is pretty awesome. His air game is a LOT better. His attacks are a little weaker and have less knockback. Regardless I find myself using him more than I did in Melee. His final smash is hard to control but when used right its a good final smash for multiple KOs. Samus - Shes gotten slightly slower, but overall she has improved. She can trap you for multiple hits with her up b now, and her missles now give you vertical knockback. Still one of the best characters to use for projectile attacks. And her final smash is certainly one of the best, the pieces of her power suit that fall to the ground afterwards are very strong when thrown. Fox - His attack range has been nerfed a bit. But he now has faster smash attacks. His final smash is not something you want to use on smaller stages because its easy to fall to your doom. One of my favorite final smashes, not so much because of its effectiveness but just simply because its fun to use. Captain Falcon - No longer the fastest. His attacks are better now though, reverse Falcon Punch ftw. His up b is better too. His final smash is hard to connect, because when it dosen't its a dud. But when it does connect, your opponent almost always gets an instant KO. Ness - His specials are nowhere near as good as Lucas. But his smash attacks are still way better. His final smash is better too and has good knockback. Luigi - His specials are better and have more range. And his final smash is very useful, leaving your opponent completely vulnerable to KO. Jigglypuff - The same ol' Jigglypuff as far as I can tell. Her final smash is useless on very large stages like New Pork City and Hyrule Temple, but works like a dream on small ones like Flatworld 2 and Yoshis Island. Bowser - Actually faster than before. His smash attacks are better IMO. And I really like his new side b, though you gotta be careful where you use it as not to accidently take a plunge. And who can object to a Giga Bowser final smash? Peach - She can't float cancel anymore. Her specials have improved a good deal. Her final smash works best on scrolling stages and you can land an instant KO if you execute it while your opponent is out of the safe zone. Zelda - Zelda is now better than Sheik, shes now faster and her attacks are faster, more powerful and easier to use. One of the best final smashes as well. Transforming is slower now though which sucks ass. Sheik - She has no good kill moves and her attacks overall have gotten weaker, but who cares? Its still Sheik. Chain can now be used for tether recovery. Ice Climbers - Haven't really changed at all it seems, except maybe a little stronger. Final smash works best on small stages. Marth - Been nerfed a good deal sad to say, he's slower and weaker, his standard b has changed, is now weaker and dosen't make a very good edge guard anymore and his attacks now have less range. However his side b has gotten a LOT better now that its actually easy to use by simply holding the b button, so Marth still has some of the best combo variety in the game. And he argubly has the best final smash. Game & Watch - Nothing has changed except his neutral air and he now floats after his up b. His final smash is not very good and deals very little damage, you can move your enemies off the screen, but its risky. Falco - Has a new rapid A combo. And he can now use his reflector shield like a boomerang. His air game is different too. His moves also have a lot more range than Fox. His Landmaster final smash has weaker attacks than Fox, but it can fly much higher and can be used to push enemies off the screen from below. Ganondorf - My least favorite character in the game. His attacks are more powerful. But he's now even SLOWER. He's the worst lagger so tourney nuts probably wont care for him much now that L canceling is out. He has a very good final smash though. Meta Knight - No kill moves but very fast attacks. Just like Kirby he can do many mid air jumps, and like Kirby he is fast and light. Has some great moves for edge gaurding. His gliding abillity also makes it easy to avoid edge guards from your opponent. Be sure to give your opponent a decent deal of damage before using your final smash.
Wario - I love this guy. I don't care what tier he is I just love using him. His standard b can eat any item and even projectiles. He has a combination of heavy weight and speed, a good air game and his attacks are pretty strong. His up b is one of the worst recovery moves in the game though. And the wario waft takes a long ass freaking time to charge, and its only useful when fully charged, so use it wisely. I love his final smash, in which he's now invincible, faster and all his attacks are way stronger. Pit - His standard b has fantastic range and side b is a great edge guard. He can also attack while using his up b. Can do 3 mid air jumps and can glide. Overall pretty sweet. His final smash is alright, it works best when your enemy has already taken a lot of damage, otherwise it won't be too useful. Zero Suit Samus - Weak but ****ing fast and agile. She has a few attacks that can stun enemies and leave them vulnerable for a short time. She also has more tether recoveries than any other character. Final smash is not very good other than simply turning her back into regular Samus. Pokemon Trainer - Most versatile character in the game, and has a total of 10 special moves he can use. Squirtle is very fast and light and has a lot of good fast attacks with good knockback, with a standard b thats good for edge guarding. Ivysaur is a good projectile character and one of the best standard b moves in the game, his up be can tether. Charizard is obviously very strong, heavy and slow, but can also glide. Rock smash is a very good kill move. Your pokemon get weaker if you use the same one for too long, but also if you change through them excessively. Final smash is really good but can be a little hard to hit. King Dedede - Very heavy and powerful. A lot of good knockback moves. He has 4 mid air jumps. His foward smash is the most powerful in the game. His waddle dee toss is very useful, sometimes a gordo will pop out and it deals a lot of damage. His final smash works best on small stages. Ike - Insanely ****ing strong, but also slow. Good recovery and good attack range. Amazingly good final smash. Olimar - A bit of a challenging character to use, can't do smash or arial attacks without his Pikmin buddies. Only 2 of his b moves are actually attacks, his up b can tether (its range depends on how many Pikmin you have) and his side b is a very effective move. Also one of the best final smashes. Diddy Kong - Fast and light, with some very fast and fairly effective attacks. Good range and combo variety. His final smash is hard to use both because hes hard to control and he only shoots down. Lucas - His specials are stronger and overall better than Ness. His PK Thunder can score multiple hits both on its own and when used to send Lucas rocketing. His smash attacks however are weaker and slower than Ness. And he may very well have the worst Final Smash in the game. Snake - Awesome. He has an AMAZING range of projectile attacks. His smash attacks don't really work like smash attacks. He cant jump very high but his air attacks are pretty strong. Sweet final smash too. He can also use a bomb recovery like Samus. Sonic - My favorite newcomer. Obviously the fastest, his third jump is insanely high and his air game is fantastic. All of his b moves can be used for recovery which is excellent. His up b dosen't leave him defenseless like with most characters. His attacks mostly look the same but that can make them hard to predict during multiplayer matches. He dosen't have any kill moves however. Everyone who says his final smash is horrible are just plain wrong, its rather hard to control, but when done right its a great final smash, and one of the few in the game that can score multiple KOs on a single opponent. Lucario - Unusual in that he starts out pretty weak, but gets stronger the more damage he takes. Standard attacks have great range. At his strongest he has good knockback. His final smash can be either very weak or very effective depending on how much damage you have. Wolf - Nope, not a Fox clone. His specials are similar but work very differently. Has a lot of fast attacks and a decently heavy weight. He's also fairly fast. Has some pretty good kill moves too. His landmaster final smash is more powerful than Fox or Falcos, but it dosen't last as long. Toon Link - Basically Young Link with a new look. Attacks are faster than Links and have high knockback. His bomberang can't pull enemies foward like regular Links. His final smash is pretty much the same, only weaker. R.O.B. - Actually a pretty good character, dispite me ranting about his inclusion in the past. A very good recovery, strong attacks with very good range and a good deal of projectile attacks. Also a heavy character. Final smash works best againt multiple opponents. So yeah. I like all the characters, the roster has me satisfied. Last edited by boo boo; 03-17-2008 at 08:50 PM. |

The original N64 Super Smash still deserves to be tked about, not the two copycats.

Jesus Christ, I hope you are joking. The first Smash was good, but it was made obsolete a long time ago, because Melee is better than it in absolutely every way, and only those in total denial will say that Brawl isn't better than Melee, let alone the first Smash. I mean c'mon, anyone who honestly believes the first smash is better than Melee and Brawl is seriously insane. Last edited by boo boo; 03-19-2008 at 09:42 AM. |

I have to agree with you on that. I loved the original for N64, and I still play it. Melee was good too, but I like the original best. I don't have anythng against Brawl, it's an amazing game, but everyone talking about it is getting annoying.
