I'm not into this sequel thing at all.
At first I thought Alien, but I don't think that is an example of a succesful filmseries either.. Alien from '79 was something complete new: A space-horror. On almost "lowbudget" they scared our pants off us with something we hadn't seen before. The rest of the follow-ups manage on their own (in varying extent) but not in a sequel as I se it. |

Yeah thats were you were wrong. Alien is a very successful series, though its not a trilogy.
Alien and Aliens were excellent films, though Alien 3 was meh and Alien Resurection even though it was from a very talented director, was still pretty bad. |

The "Man With No Name Trilogy"
Fistful of Dollars = Awesome For a Few Dollars More = not as Awesome The Good, The Bad and the Ugly = Greatest Film Ever Made. And of the Vengeance Trilogy, "OldBoy" is the stand out film of that series.

LOTR for sure. I love star wars but LOTR was just so much better, acting,story,scenery,ect...
