I've never really given anime a shot, mostly because in high school I had a stereotypical view of the "typical" anime watcher and, shallowly, I didn't want to be identified with those types of people.
But now I'm more mature than that, and I decided I'd give anime a try because I tend to love the stories in Japanese RPGs and anime is basically the same thing. I decided to try Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood because it's on Netflix and seems to be pretty unanimously praised. I'm four episodes in and the overall story is a little confusing and moving at a weird pace but each individual episode presents a great little substory. I was surprised at how dark it is, like with the crazy dude using his daughter and her dog to create a horrifying...thing in the fourth episode I think. Overall I'm digging it and will continue to post my impressions.
