Agreed but it just comes with the genre. Japan's too corporate and conservative to mess with the formula. Manga is where you can find more experimentation with art style but even then the visual tropes are still strong unless you find some really underground ****.

That's why I was so blown away by some of the stuff Studio 4C has made. Finding original, non standard animation style anime is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

I love the voice cast for Invincible and digging it so far. Maybe it'll catch on.

The Bisco light novel art (as well as the manga's art) is less typical overall. The anime looks like they're cleaning it up a bit even though the late 80's OVA sci-fi zaniness is still there.

I really hope so. Superhero deconstruction cynicism and hyper realism combined with superhero reconstruction love for silver age goofiness and optimism is an itch that doesn't get scratched nearly enough and could take the world by storm as an alternative to the MCU.
