Currently watching the first ten minutes of Castle of Cagliostro and it feels very much like an episode of Cowboy Bebop so I'm excited.

Bruh, around 15 minutes in and the car chase is over and Lupin and Jigen are exploring the castle and Lupin sits down and looks at the glove and ring and clearly knows something he's not saying, and then Jigen walks up and it's one of the best visual storytelling moments I've ever seen. Within ten seconds I know Lupin is holding something back, then I know Lupin is trying to be coy around Jigen, then I know Jigen knows this, and no dialogue is spoken to show this and it's all in the course of like ten seconds and it's all visual cues and and it's somehow also dynamic and fun and **** yeah.

Finished the first season of KonoSuba and most of these "nerd gets teleported to a fantasy world and epicness ensues" animes aren't just garbage but hot garbage on a griddle, but instead of going for cringy power fantasy this show basically says, "Yeah you think you're gonna set off on some grand adventure through life but you're probs just gonna be a loser who's constantly broke with dip**** friends". Funniest show I've seen in awhile.

Only two isekai besides El Hazard from the early 90's I've enjoyed are Konosuba like you mentioned and Re;Zero, which subverts the formula in an interesting way as well. The latter is getting a second season later this year, so might be worth your time to check it out at some point.

I liked a lot of aspects of Escaflowne but it was a little too disjointed as it entered the second half. But it does count as an isekai.

The first half is top 10 god-tier though. Any action scene featuring the invisible robots was sheer magic.

New Boogiepop series is confusing but satisfying af. I still don't know what's going on and am constantly trying to piece together time skips but it's hella neat when I finally understand 60% of what's going on in an episode.
