There's no shounen series in existence that comes within spitting distance of Hunter X Hunter as far as world-building and its large cast of characters are concerned (though Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Law Of Ueki and Yu Yu Hakusho had their moments). It's a helluva lot better than Bleach and Naruto, and I'd say it's better than One Piece too in several respects.

The 2011 reboot has covered the majority of the manga up to this point, so there's where ya'll should be jumping into HxH.

I finished up Death Note a few days ago, really mind bendingly awesome series. The show def gets dark and surprised me quite a few times how far Light would go to keep Kira killing.

I started off rooting for Kira in the beginning but shortly after Light got a bit evil and out of hand so I found him a bit sketchy but definitely a manipulative genius. He had good intentions at first but the "power" of the notebook went to his head.

But yeah, it is a really good series, glad I finally watched it.

Knights Of Sidonia

Finished this show this morning, really good stuff something really different for the mecha style animes. Really liked it, had a real sense of urgency to it.

Why does he have a sword if he's in a giant fighting robot?

Finishing up Hanasaku Iroha - blossoms for tomorrow

It follows a young girl who is sent to work at the family inn after her mother leaves her to pursue her own life without the responsibility of having a child. As with most animes like this it does have it's pointless fan service but this is one of the easier ones to ignore. All in all this is one of the best SOL animes I've seen in a while, it's much more down to earth than the more fantasy oriented ones I usually go for (soro no woto and Haibane Renmei).

I started watching that recently as well and I'm up to about episode 7 or so but I'm keep getting turned off by its constant "tell, don't show" philosophy.
