Aye I haven't followed any new animes in a while. I'm really only familiar with a handful of newer animes (Baccano!, FMA, Soul Eater, Full Metal Panic). I usually stick with the usual classic animes like Outlaw Star, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop etc. and just rewatch them from time to time haha.

I keep hearing about Attack On Titan, I might check it out after Bro hood :thumb:

****. Yes. I love that show. One of the funniest things I've ever seen, anime or not. It used to be a ritual for me to get hella baked and then watch the rugby episode.

"That ball is your only girlfriend! Think of that ball as a wet [censored] and [censored] it as hard as you can!"

Brilliant.

Yeah FMP is def awesome to watch when your baked haha. Its really great, consistently funny throughout. Sousuke has got to be one of the funniest anime characters ever. Not a problem!

The story gets pretty dark too, especially in The Second Raid. I gotta re watch that show its been a long time.

I keep meaning to watch the second season, but I never get around to it. And yes, Sousuke is indeed one of the best anime characters ever. Blowing up your shoe locker kind of ensures that.

And it's not just that it's consistent, it's consistently inventive. No two episodes ever seem alike. The rugby episode, the hot springs, the Bonta Kun suit, fighting the karate club, the chainsaw janitor. All off-the-wall and unique.

Dude you definitely gotta see The Second Raid, the story gets really good and theres a lot of interesting backstorys to Sousuke. The manga is pretty good too but I only read a few chapters.

Yeah you got that right, the show stays really fresh throughout. The bonta kun suit is so good, or the one with the horse head mask guy haha.

I've never really given anime a shot, mostly because in high school I had a stereotypical view of the "typical" anime watcher and, shallowly, I didn't want to be identified with those types of people.

But now I'm more mature than that, and I decided I'd give anime a try because I tend to love the stories in Japanese RPGs and anime is basically the same thing.

I decided to try Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood because it's on Netflix and seems to be pretty unanimously praised. I'm four episodes in and the overall story is a little confusing and moving at a weird pace but each individual episode presents a great little substory. I was surprised at how dark it is, like with the crazy dude using his daughter and her dog to create a horrifying...thing in the fourth episode I think.

Overall I'm digging it and will continue to post my impressions.

@Yorke

Ahh the chimera eps, that's an attention grabber isn't it?

it's a really obvious turning point in the tone of the series, and don't worry the series explains itself pretty well so you'll eventually get it with no problem.

They actually convey the complexity of the story in a very simple way..
That's until the ending eps that is..

im not gonna spoil it for you though, keep watching it the series gets better and better.

Yeah, the imagery of the show has on occasion been legitimately horrifying, another example was the flashback episode and all the freaky **** that happened after they tried to bring back their mom.

I think I have a decent grasp of the story so far, but I dont really know why Ed can use alchemy out of nothing or why his arm is so special. If that's been explained I must've spaced.

Yeah that gets explicitly stated later don't worry.

Anybody here ever watch Gurren Laggan? That's definitely one of all time favorites. Its a little light hearted and funny as hell but it gets dark too.
