The Anime/Manga thread

I think you are just focusing on the big crossovers anime and are trying to encapsulate that all animes are similar to those ones, the big crossover anime tend to be shounen anime as Dylstew listed but there are many obscure ones that are very different, in some anime the characters don't fight with superpowers and some anime are the same **** as walking dead or vampire diaries or any Human show without the US censorship and without the limitation of dealing with actors, cause it's animation! no need for CGI to make a character fly or wthvr.

i don't understand what makes a medium more mature than another medium when they put out the same content,

for exmpl, take the anime Full metal alchemist.
if they made that into a human show ppl would love it and wouldn't call it immature.
But if it was a book before it was a show ppl would think the book is more mature.

this unspoken hierarchy of credibility is bull**** if the content is the same and remains unedited.

No I'm focusing on the majority of anime. Most of it is just as formulaic as any kind of pop culture entertainment created by corporations. Sure there are good obscure ones, and I still like looking for them, but I'm getting lazier and lazier as I run out of options.

Yea i kinda feel the same, im at the point i rather rewatch Rurouni Kenshin than to try out a new anime..

But as you mentioned there are still a few anime series out there that are good and fit your personal taste. and with so many anime coming out you're most likely to find some series that you'll love you just gotta know where to look.

i think in a way it's like the music industry, among all the bands out there that are likely to suck there is also good ones but they are hard to find if you don't know where to look for them.

I tend to look for manga more than anime these days. I guess since it's a lot cheaper to make they generally take more risks.

I think ive been preaching to the choir here, i thought you didn't know much about anime but you even read manga which i don't do myself.

i like colour, it bothers me Manga for the most part is Black & white that turns me off for some reason, that's why i prefer comics over manga.

I have a questiom for any anime buffs here, I wanted to check out FMA Brotherhood but I wasnt sure if its worth watching having already seen the original series. Is it alot different or just subtle differences? Better or worse?

Better, if not equally as good, i haven't finished Brotherhood yet i just saw a couple to see if it was good, and it was.

Fairy tale is also good if you haven't seen it.

Fairy Tail is another popular shounen series running right now. That being said, it doesn't hold a candle to FMA Brotherhood, much less something like Hunter X Hunter.

Well it certainly starts more entertaining then Hunter X Hunter, and i wouldn't call FMAB alot better than FT, they're just different.

The thing i liked about Fairy Tail (You're right its 'tail') its the pacing of that show. from the first eps they go right away into the action.
