awesome
but yeah, just started watching Paranoia Agent, so far am loving it. and it too has a great opening also, for a discussion on sports manga, anybody read Eyesheild 21? right now it's my favorite manga next to 20th Century Boys. it's a shonen style series about a football team and how they rise to become one of Japan's best. The characters are all awesome and the way that they show the game being played is enough that while some parts are exaggerated that a few of the teams are this short of superhuman, it still sticks to the core elements of Football as a sport and doesn't turn into some weird DBZ clone of a sports show. there's an anime version too, but i highly suggest reading the manga as it has alot more in it and tbh from watching a little of the anime, it's alot funnier and more exciting.

so yeah, i just got a hold of the show Gurren Lagaan, and so far it's not too bad, but (i'm not gay i swear) is there a reason Yoko always dresses like this?
but yeah, i'm also checking out The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. about halfway through, though, i found out that i've been watching it in a different order than what was broadcast. while i looked it up and the way i'm watching is chronologically correct, i hear the broadcast order is better for the flow of the series as a whole and with how i'm watching now i'm gonna end up on the worst episode for the ending. @_@ so yeah...wtf Japan?

Well as I was saying in the shoutbox, when I was younger I always craved more anime/manga that I had little access to without any stores that carried them, knowledge of the internet's potential, etc. In the past while I've been trying to make up for those lost chances.
I've finally experience the greatness that is Neon Genesis Evangelion (probably pretty white belt to the anime hardcores) and it's easily become one of my favourite series that I've seen. The movie Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone was quite an impressive remake of the first bunch of the original episodes with extras. Also quite pleased I managed to find it on sale at a closing down video store. I can't wait for the english dub of 2.0 and the two other new movies to be finished. I've also started watching G Gundam and while it's not the best thing in the world it's a fun Gundam series kind of reminiscent of Dragon Ball Z (my crack as a child). I plan on going through Mobile Suit Gundam and Gundan Wing as well since I only saw pieces of them growing up. |

if you really dig Evangelion, you should check out End of Evangelion, it's basically an alternate ending for the series that ACTUALLY explains things better.
i've also been wanting to get on the Gundam train, but i'm not too sure where to start.

Do yourself a favor and get used to subs, you'll thank yourself when you get into more obscure series as the american dubs can suck... horribly. I got into an ongoing zombie/ecchi series and it's pretty good two episodes in. It's called "highschool of the dead" just in case you guys wanted to check it out.

Subs > Dubs by a significant amount.
Miyazaki films tend to have pretty good dubs and other anime like Cowboy Bebop and FLCL have very good english dubs. But other times english dubs can ruin really good anime. The American theatrical release of Akira is a pretty good example of great anime done a great disservice by poor english dubbing. |
