I was a tad confused when I watched that series in airing order.

I love the Anime, but I admit to not having read the manga, which I will in the future, once the anime is finally done.

First thing's first, the english dub is pretty meh, Ichigo and Rukia's dubs are good but most of the voices don't fit the characters at all, really. So advice to anyone getting into this show, please watch the subs.

And as with any long Anime, there's filler, a LOT of it, theres 3 whole seasons of filler, and another that's at least half filler.

I know that getting into a long Anime is always gonna be fustrating, nobody likes fillers but, they do serve their purpose of keeping the anime from catching up with the manga, which would obviously present problems.

Anyway. This is how I rank the Bleach arcs.

Beginning arc: A great start, gets you accustomed to a lot of great characters and it doesnt really feel like a fighting shonen like later arcs, making it stand out.

Soul Society rescue arc: Without a doubt the ****ing best. The animation and character development is excellent, and it has the best fight scenes by far. The whole Aizen thing was a great twist to boot.

Soul Society entry arc: Excellent, we meet the soul reapers for the first time, and the story and pacing is great. Yoruichi ftw.

Shinigami arc: It's odd to compare this to the rest of the series, because when you think about it, Bleach didn't really turn into a fighting shonen until the Soul Society arc. This arc deals more with Ichigo's connection with the dead, and his relationships. It does a great job in fleshing out all the main characters. And Ichigo and Rukia's interactions are always great.

Arrancar arc: Put aside the fact that there's like 10 filler episodes, it's pretty great. It introduces a lot of the new and interesting plot points, like the Espada and the Vizard. I especially can't wait to see the Vizard again. And Grimmjow and Ulquiorra are pretty badass. The animation is also at it's best in some episodes, especially during Ikkaku's fight. I also thought the way it ended, with Orihime having to say goodbye to Ichigo, was especially touching.

Heuco Mundo fierce fight arc: Is it just me or has the animation gotten noticeably worse since the Arrancar arc? Was there a budget cut or something? Seriously. Soul Society arc was very well animated, what happened? Oh well. I have to say the first half was WAY too stretched out and tideous, too much recaping and extended fights to the point of ridiculousness. Also, there's not a whole lot of character development going on, save the stuff between Rukia and Kaien, which was beautifully done. And Nel and her pals are pretty damn annoying.

Second half however, is promising to be a LOT better, Kenpachi, Byukuya and Mayuri show up, and Nel evolves from an annoying little turd to a... badass half naked chick with huge boobs. Ok, I didn't see that coming.

Hueco Mundo entry arc: First thing I notice right off the bat is, things are getting a little... repetitive. Heh, it IS a shonen afterall, but I am bothered by how similar to the soul society arc this is, only now it's Orihime instead of Rukia, Espada instead of Soul Reapers, etc. I thought the whole Ashido thing was interesting though and I'm dying to know if this guy is gonna become significant in any way. Aizen's scenes, though brief, are also great.

Big gap

Bount arc: Yeah, two seasons of filler. The first season just plain sucked, but at least things picked up in the second one, it's always nice to see the soul reaper captains kicking some more ass, and the final fight was pretty cool.

I didn't see the last filler arc, don't care to.

I really have high hopes for the winter war arc, I know the manga is already getting there but, again I don't read the manga, for now I don't want to spoil anything. Heres hoping the winter war arc will be just as good as the soul society one if not better.

to be honest. i didnt like the anime. it got annoying to me. it had a couple up points that i liked but for the most part i found it to be a bad imitation of DBZ. of course, a LOT of anime is a bad imitation of DBZ.........DBGT for example.

actually i tend to dislike anime in general because it is ridiculously overdramatized. take Ranma 1/2 for instance. Manga was amazingly funny and was built around anticlimactic events, gender confusion, martial arts, and of course misunderstandings. When it got turned into an anime they overdramatized it so much that it became more of a soap opera and lost a lot of humor.

but then theres the opposite situation of course where anime is turned into manga, and the manga just blows.

I'm tired of the DBZ comparisons, it's not really like DBZ at all, other than the fact that it's a fighting shonen, and for that you could make the same kind of comparisons with Naruto, Inuyasha, One Piece and so on. Bleach has the distinction of course, of being far superior to all of the other fighting shonen out there. While it includes many of the same cliches (characters that strive to become more powerful, long talks about how said power works, characters flat out refuse to die, etc) as most shonen, it also expands on what fighting shonen usually lacks, mainly character development, plots that aren't too convoluted and more unique ideas and visuals overall. This among other things has helped Bleach crossover to people who aren't particularly fans of shonen.

If you wan't something on a more artistic level, then obviously there's better anime out there. But as far as shonen goes, Bleach is king, if you want a fun action packed anime, Bleach is it.

Really? I haven't read the manga but I find the anime to be pretty humorous.

i'm comparing it to DBZ cuz DBZ is the only anime that managed to pull off the insane dragging out of anything. and even it lost that ability in the latter half of the show. but as i said, i tried getting into the bleach anime but it didnt do much for me.

Also, the bleach manga is really starting to suck. theres no point to anything and i'm really sick of ichigo having his ass kicked over and over again even tho he's supposed to be stronger. it was ok for a while but its gotten boring.

and the manga for ranma is way better. plus it actually has an ending.

Anyone else a fan?

I personally like the Bleach manga better than the actual show.

Blah. Bleach >>>>>>>>>>>>> DBZ. By a long shot.

Well he's not REALLY supposed to be stronger than the Soul Reaper captains or the Espada, most of the time he just wins because he catches his enemy off gaurd.

So far I'm enjoying the HM arc, but it has been dragging in parts, it's really all just leading up to the whole war arc which I think will be the climax of the series, and it will end from there.

I greatly prefer Anime over manga. But that's just me. Call me picky, I'm just not too big into colorless comic books I guess.

My only dislike about the Bleach anime is the filler they use to keep it from catching up with the manga. Well actually, I'd rather they kept doing the filler than what they're doing now, which is dragging out certain events until it just gets ridiculous, like the whole fight between Renji/Ishida and Szayel, which lasted 20 episodes, only for Mayuri to be the one to save their asses, wtf.
