I've read Lightness before, and in light of recent discussions w/ someone who has more recently read the book I decided to read it again.

Varieties looks to be 600 pages of tedium, but well worth the effort I hope.

Edit: Just realized I misread your post. I couldn't recommend Kundera enough to you. Beautifully well written prose with an emphasis on what I would dub "romantic existentialism"
