Yeah, it's one of my favorite books. What's most surprising is that a lot of his work includes references to homosexuality. Pale fire is for all intents and purposes gay literature, the main character and narrator is a homosexual. But knowing that he disliked homosexuals (despite his own brother being gay and dying in a concentration camp) puts a whole different spin on his work. :| He's still a genius and one of the best stylists of the English language...

Agreed there... but the including homosexual references in his works vs him being a homophobe... I think it's like the Hitler syndrome... it's been rumoured that Hitler had gay tendencies, yet hated homosexuals. He was part Jewish, and hates Jews. Wanted everyone to be blonde and blue-eyed, but he was dark-haired and brown-eyed. See what I'm getting at? Just a theory...
