Do you mean Tolstoy’s was being intentionally complex or are you saying it’s a complex task coming to terms with Tolstoy’s morality?

I mean the former. It's the only book which made my lie awake going over those fictional conversations and events again and again trying to figure out what to make of it as much as with things in real life

Cool, I'm reading her collected poems (I read a few now and then in between the main thing I'm reading, which is currently Dr. Thorne by Trollope) but I want to read that one too sometime

Henry Cow: The World Is a Problem by Benjamin Piekut

It's absolutely amazing. It sure helps that it's about one of my all time favourite bands but it's also incredibly well researched and structured.
IIRC TockTockTock recommended it so big thanks for that.
