Lords of Chaos
![]() First of all, it is physically impossible to find a good picture of this book. Now, I'd heard great things about this book, and being somewhat of a fan of heavy metal, I figured it was about time I read it. Holy ****. I knew the Norwegian black metal scene was screwed up, but Jesus ****ing Christ. I'm sure there must be some halfway decent people among them, but the ratio of quite possibly psychotic D-bags to hopefully nonpsychotic D-bags is depressingly low. I am perfectly fine with never meeting any of these whackadoos in real life. Whatever the case, this is a fascinating book that had me up till three in the morning the other day. The various crimes perpetrated by the scene is just riveting stuff. And then the book takes a look into Varg's Asatru/nazi beliefs, the parallels between viking culture and the black metal scene, various forms of Satanism in the scene, be it silly, posing, or legitimate LaVeyan satanism. I'm somewhere just past that, and I am totally hooked. Though it's kinda weird reading a book where Vark Vikerness is in a lot of ways, not so much the anti-hero, but the main character at least.
