Plus he's kind of known for quirky slightly humorous stories so truly disturbing content is probably not going to be in the cards for any of his books, it certainly hasn't been in the three I've read.

Well in that case, it was a success. It wasn't a bad book by any means, it was a good story and Morton is possibly my favourite character from any novel I've ever read; I just had different expectations for it from what I'd heard about it.
