 Just started Tad Williams' Otherworld saga, upon recommendation by my gf and her mother... So far it's a nice mix of the feelings of Fantasy and Science Fiction. Definitely gripping, thought evocative, and it's setting up a rather fantastic plot (in both senses of the word!). Btw - when I think of fantasy authors, this is definitely not what comes to mind...
