A re-read of:

I'm not usually a big fan of biographies, but this one really is superb. It's a personal biography as well, in which Miss Chandler spent extended periods of time with Bette Davis to learn all of the necessary information. It's probably one of the best biographies I've read.

I'm also disappointed because I gave my mother two books to read:

and:

Both of which I love, and she's hating Post Office right now. She says it's well-written and she likes that it's straightforward, but she can't enjoy the book because Henry Chinaski is such a bastard...which is true. But at the same time, I found that heightened my enjoyment of the book because he was such a human character.

She started the second book, before deciding to read Post Office and really enjoyed the first story, but I somehow feel she'll hate it as well. She'll probably think it's pretentious or something...which is what happened when I had her read Gravity's Rainbow.
