I just finished Beauties, by James Duthie. It's a collection of hockey related stories. It was a Christmas gift from my wife.
I'm starting Jordan Peterson's Beyond Order now. I'm keeping an open mind. If I can understand what he's saying, I'll consider that a win. Like many professionals who are well versed in their field, I find they tend to ramble on frequently. |

But what it lacks in polish it makes up for in Polish.

I had a blast attending the Oddities & Curiosities Expo today. Spotted a few local celebrities in the goth and pin-up community and I received many compliments for my Victorian apparel.
I was surprised to score a great find at the show - This is an original full-sized comic book adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein from Classics Illustrated published in 1943. A fun treasure for my library! Spoiler for Expand for pics of the comic.:

A straight up Golden Age comic?! Can't be many of those around anymore. Keep that safe and sound or you'll answer to me.

If you don't mind me asking how much did you pay for it? Action Comics #1 going for like half a million sent the comics industry into a speculation death spiral back in the 80s/90s and I'm curious what even niche comics from that era go for.

A CGC graded 4.0 copy is listed for $100 right now on eBay, and there's an ungraded good condition copy of the same vintage listed for $85. A few copies have slipped under the radar and sold for significantly less. I paid $12 for an original golden age comic. I think I made out well. I've had a few other comic rarities in my hands. I only have ancient digital pics so sorry these are poor quality, but I hit up an antique junk shop and the owner showed me his graded Fantastic Four #1, Spider Man #1, and X-Men #1. In 2015 they were valued at $50,000. Not bad!
