Kubrick's version of the book is great. Love the off beat, dark humor.

The 1997 version is also good. More serious & nostalgic, very sad. But very sexy.

Yeah, I've seen the '97 version (before I read the book) and from what I remember it was rather good, your description is spot on. I only remember bits and pieces but the last scene was visual poetry.

Hell yes it was. Also the first scene, blatant foreshadowing, of him driving down the road all drunk.
