Has anybody read anything by either China Mieville or Neil Gaiman? I keep meaning to check them out.

I've been trying to psyche myself up to see it for a long time but I'm not very hopeful it'll be any good. Love the book.

OT: I've just started Salman Rushdie's The satanic verses...the first 10 pages is probably one of the most spectacular openings I've ever read.

I'm also on issue 13 of Y - The last man, comic book (or graphic novel, dunno much about these things). It's gripping. I might just start downloading more comics...

Kubrick's version of the book is great. Love the off beat, dark humor.

The 1997 version is also good. More serious & nostalgic, very sad. But very sexy.

I don't know if you're into comics but Sandman is great. I've heard lots of good things about American Gods, if you want a novel.

Yeah, I've seen the '97 version (before I read the book) and from what I remember it was rather good, your description is spot on. I only remember bits and pieces but the last scene was visual poetry.

Hell yes it was. Also the first scene, blatant foreshadowing, of him driving down the road all drunk. :(

but of course

I've finished 1984 the first half was a bit slow and laborious (gets 100% better when they get captured)

I'm now reading "Berlin"

and yes that is also Beevor's hand

I think I read further up the thread that you had read 'Watchmen'? If so, good man :thumb:
