If I had to bet on one place where the Butterfly Effect doesn't apply, it'd be here at MusicBanter.

I'll Be Gone in the Dark
Michelle McNamara

Tragic that she died because she was a wonderful writer. The last section of the book where another person took over dragged on and I ended up skipping most of it and just reading what happened with the GSK on wiki. The rest of the book had me engaged and I almost couldn't put it down in spots. Not a big true crime reader but this was good.

Now on to Mary Roach's new book Fuzz, which is about animals committing human crimes. I love her books and this is good so far.

This woman, this woman of whom you were just offered such a saintly image... Let me tell you something about this woman, ladies and fellas of the jury. This woman was out on a wild goose chase, trying to resolve a decades-old case which was eventually closed through advances in DNA technology, no thanks to her. This woman was neglecting her wifely duties to spend all her time on online message boards chatting to true crime lovers from Kentucky. This woman was losing touch.

Now look at my client if you will, ladies and fellas, look at this sweaty, pudgy, extremely small man. Look how desperately he wants to be liked. Imagine how bad things would have to get for this man to resort to extreme measures. Was he on a hunt for younger cooze? Sure, but can you blame him is what I'm asking you today. Faced with an extreme situation at home, he had to act. He had to do what's right for himself and for his children. And it was also the right thing to do - though that may be a hard pill to swallow - for the woman whose death we've convened to discuss today.

Is this publication a psyop in itself?

I have to say, I thought Bleak House was the darkest of Dickens' work, until we began reading Dombey and Son. Jesus Christ! It's almost Edgar Allan Poe level of darkness. Brilliant though. Natch.
