Really? I agree that morality is pretty boring from an aesthetic standpoint.

There are exceptions like Thoreau and Tolstoy where their lifestyle was intrinsic to their art but in general a strong orthodoxy makes Jack a pretty dull boy.

I’m thinking woke hip hop or Fugazi. Basically something too sanitized.

I don't think you get what I mean. I don't care if artists are bad people, they can still make great art, and making your morality a preachy part of your identity as an artist is annoying. I'm just cringing at Elph's attitude towards 'Art'

After further bookshelf organizing, I came to the conclusion to start "How to win friends and influence people" by Dale Carnegie

Even bought the audiobook, on principle 3. Finishing most likely this week and then going back to the Robert Greene book and finish that by the end of the month.

On law 17 of "The 48 Laws of power" by Robert Greene.
This is my second time reading this and I am getting much more out of it than the previous read back in 2013.

On page 175 of "How to win friends and influence people" by Dale Carnegie
First time reading this and it's really good. Lots of common sense stuff I already knew and do but it's nice getting it further into the subconscious.

Not sure why I am not just reading one fully and then the other but I have been reading a few chapters in one book and then a few in the other.

I am finishing both books by Tuesday, December 14th to type a short review for my blog.

Not too sure which book I'll read next about these are the 3 in the thought of next; which one should I start?
- "The Prince" by Niccolò Machiavelli (for the 2nd time)
- "The Alchemist" by Paulo Coelho (for the 1st time)
- "The Secret History of the World" by Mark Booth (for the 3rd time)

None of the above. Can The Mind Be Quiet? by J. Krishnamurti is what I'd recommend. I say that because, judging by those titles, you seem to be going for intelligence hidden in plain sight. If not, ignore it.

Google books doesn't have "the power of positive thinking" so I may start "Mastery" by Robert Greene or "the alchemist" by Paulo Coelho once finished with the current books. Plus reading this "how to win friends and influence people book, I can see how Charles Manson liked it but it was is just universally relatable.

It's mainly common sense stuff

There is a whole chapter on just smiling, lol,
