About to get this in the mail. I've only read a few Eastern European books, but I really, really loved Roadside Picnic (as well as the movie adaptation Stalker).

Good one.
The Strugatskys are amazing, although a lot is probably lost in translation.
I'd also highly recommend reading "The Doomed City", it's pretty ****ing mindblowing.

The Children's Blizzard by David Laskin

Fantastic history book. Incredibly well researched. Uses the sciences of meteorology, biology, and thermoregulation, clearly explained and easily understood, to bring you right into the heart (sometimes literally) of how all these children died. Superbly engaging, gruesome, and horrifying.

So far it is my favorite book. At first, I really did not like how it ended but after watching miniseries (must admit, they did a pretty good job too + King wrote the screenplay himself) I finally understood why it ended the way it did. You won't be disappointed if you're in the mood for gloomy apocalyptic story.

As for me, I'm re-reading China Mieville - The City & The City. Love his crazy world-building.

Yes, and it's absolutely amazing. Actually, they can be read in any order, but Perdido is probably the best starting point.
Perdido Street Station is awesome, but for me The Scar is the best one yet. Iron Council is a so-so book (not to say pretty lousy). Overall, that's a very original and unusual sci-fi trilogy, so you should definitely give it a try!

I've been slowly getting through Words of Radiance but I'm only a few chapters from the end now. Didn't know there was a novella though. I have the first Mistborn book now so if I have to wait to read Oathbringer first I have that.

Oh **** it's about Lift?! Her one chapter made her instantly one of my favorite characters in the series and I was getting very heated about her possibly dying near the end. Mistborn it shall be until Edgedancer arrives in the mail.
