Who likes, or rather, who doesn't like travel books? Paul Theroux is my favourite in this genre because he is so clever, critical, cultured and cruel. Wherever he goes, he is the prickly loner, the acute observer.

His verdict on the Spanish Riviera, the holiday destination of so many pasty Brits?

"The utterly blighted landscape of the Spanish coast.... a vile straggling sandbox....the rankness of this chain of grease-spots is beyond satire... but several aspects of this reeking vulgarity interested me."

And you'll be set for winter too. That Gnostic Bible will make great kindling.

Is that like a bible that has actual evidence to justify your gnositicism?

I bought "the secret teachings of all ages" by manly p hall at the same time. that book i read the the whole thing. the gnostic bible has some really interesting stuff it in

Goes without saying that it's all based on bull**** but the gnostic bible, notably the gospel of Thomas, is some of most interesting religious text I've read outside of the Vedas. It's worth a gander as a curiosity (I bet mind takes it too seriously though).
