Where the Heart Beats: John Cage, Zen Buddhism, and the Inner Life of Artists by Kay Larson.

Larson was the art critic for New York Magazine for fourteen years and wrote for the New York Times before entering Zen practice at a Buddhist monastery in upstate New York.

Looking forward to this one.

Re-reading Slaughterhouse Five. It's better than I remembered.

He is my all time favorite writer. Read all of his novels. I still have some short stories before I go through his novels again.

I've read only three of his novels. Slaughterhouse Five, the one where Vonnegut puts himself in the book to meet and talk to his main character, and the one where they freeze all the world's oceans. Can't remember the titles.

^ Sorry to take a contrary view, guys: I once read Slaughterhouse 5 and one other Vonnegut book and while both had their clever moments, on balance I found them rather glib and irritating. So it goes.

^ Thanks, Zhanteimi ! You can see how much that line irritated me - I can still remember it after reading the book once when I was about eighteen!

@ wwwp : I'm at about times three with Flowers For Algernon.

The book I have re-read more than any other book in my life:-

I find that a lot of your experience reading a book also depends on when or what age you're reading it. Probably his worldview and world-weariness is not very appropriate for teenagers...

I just love his humor and humanism. And he is anything but glib. But to each their own...
