I don't think making people aware of their bull**** really helps them in the longterm. They're still the same person they always were, except now they have some self-awareness to suppress to get back to the business of their bull****, or they'll just hate themselves even more for ****ing up. If being made aware of their excuses solved people's problems then the human race wouldn't need self-help books.

Haven't read them in decades so it's almost like reading them again for the first time.

Get past Queen of the Damned and tell me that. Or at the least get past Memnoch. I at least remember Body Thief being dull, and after Memnoch the greater story was pretty much done and it was just filler from then on. Merrick was certainly one of the most horrifyingly dull books I've ever read.

The Vampire Lestat will always be one of my favorite books though even if only for nostalgia. Lestat is just a fun character.

Honestly I think it's the entirety of what Anne Rice has to say. She describes the same character over and over again who likes the same music and movies, and basically suffers from bipolar disorder. The description of what her vampires see, hear, taste, touch, and smell is basically word for word bipolar disorder and makes it clear that she's just talking about herself and she's made an entire career out of this. It's really not that interesting after one or two books.

Read them all up to Memnoch. Loved each one. The Body Thief was a great book, so **** you. Violin I didn't like, nor Pandora, and I've yet to read the new Lestat novels, but I will agree it's between TVL and MTD for best of the bunch. Also, they made a bit of a hames of the second movie, trying to condense two books into one film. Bad idea.

I'm half way through a book about Herbert Hoover, I'm also reading Judge Dread files volume 1, Turok son of stone collection volume 2 and the phantom Sunday strip collection.

It's been years since I've read those books so maybe I'd like Body Thief more now but after Memnoch she really had nothing left in the tank but clutching at straws about every character of interest's backstory. Her last two Vampire Chronicle novels were at least notable for including Lestat for the first time in years even if they were still not nearly as good as the early books.

Because Anne Rice is a self-indulgent, flowery writer who doesn't know how to write characters who aren't basically self-inserts. After the 53rd character's tedious monologue about how brilliant Mozart is it makes me like Mozart less.

Is volume 1 the first Dredd you've read? I assure you, you should continue after you finish it. I haven't read the first stories but OMG is Dredd addictive. Just ordered a new Dredd TPB yesterday that's the second half of the storyline I just finished and of course it's gonna be two weeks delivery from the UK. Luckily I just got the first volume of Joss Whedon's Astonishing X-Men with the rest on the way so Imma be rereading the **** out of that till Dredd comes.
