I've been listening to Life of Pi on audiobook on my rides home from work since it's such a long drive. I've seen the movie and I started reading the book when I was taking the train but began taking out audiobooks from the library after driving.
I quite like it and the narrator is really good. The book is also from a single voice so it isn't like the narrator needs to create many characters or anything. |

Retief At Large by Keith Laumer Collection of short stories compiled into a single volume that chronicles the adventures of Ratief, the only competent diplomat who wants to do good by the people. This is from a very interesting (some would argue boring) time in science-fiction where there was more emphasis on talking than action. If you're a fan of Star Trek then I think you'll get a lot out of this series, and this author in particular because he was known for his satirical nature, and the fact that he was an Air Force officer and diplomat, so he has some insight into the subject matter that other authors wouldn't. Not sure if this series, or this character will change anyones life, but I've been reading about him since high school and I always enjoy going back and rereading the two books I've been able to find over the years (the other being Retief Unbound). |

With Kafka I really loved the chapters with the old man but didn't enjoy the ones with the young boy. |
