Does John die at the end?

I've been meaning to read that, and his newest one about spiders. I love David Wong's articles on Cracked, they never fail to stir up a sh*t storm.

Actually, in the movie he dies in the middle, which I thought was hilarious. Not sure about the book yet, so far he's still alive.

If you wanna get into black metal then you need to listen to Dissection. They're pretty much THE gateway band for black metal if you think that Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth are boring. Basically, take Darkthrone, combine them with At the Gates, and make it accessible and catchy as ****, and you get Dissection.

I read Lords of Chaos many years ago and I too was struck by the way that Varg, and others, are glamorized in an almost sympathetic way. I did some research into Michael Moynihan (the author) and it made sense when it became clear that he shares some of their political views. I forget where I read it but he said he moved from, I think, Colorado to the PNW because the arid, sunny climate of Colorado didn't suit his genetic heritage

Here's some more recent info/opinions about the guy:

Who Makes the Nazis?: Michael Moynihan's Seige Mentality

Entertaining as it is, I think the book is a bit sensationalist and really only focuses on a small number of individuals.

At times I was wondering. I mean the long, long ass bit where it delves into Varg's politics, and his love for some Norwegian Nazi collaborator, how he believes that the norse gods were aliens who genetically engineered the human race and put them on Atlantis, and all the other almost constant talk about national socialism and heathenism and occultism was interesting and fun for the most part, but it was also kind of odd at times just how much they concentrated on it when it was a book on black metal.

Oh, totally. The first third of the book is basically just a long, trashy tabloid article. And I loved every seedy page of it. Why you can count the number of times Darkthrone is mentioned on one hand is a bit mystifying though.

Edit: And while obviously anything that comes out of Varg Vikerness' mouth, whether it be his beliefs or what he ate for breakfast, should be taken with a grain of salt, he did have an "analysis" of the book that's sort of interesting. The part where he claims to have never listened to Venom is pretty funny too.

Even Varg thinks Moynihan is a hack. I was feeling a bit guilty about linking the blog of a writer who has a clear agenda but apparently Varg himself has backed me up.

The very last paragraph makes the piece for me. The guy could give Dave Mustaine a lesson on "Oh woe is me"-style martyrism.

I just started this up.

Y The Last Man on rec from Exo.

Also, I have Anita Blake Vampire Hunter to get to. I'm not on the third one. I'm re-reading the first one to refresh my memory then looking for the others.
