House of Holes by Nicholson Baker The most recent novel by one of my favorite authors. I'm only one chapter in but I have high hopes based on this this blurb: Quote:

My journalism teacher recommended this to me. Essentially it's a book that explores Christian spirituality as opposed to the Christian religion. It was very well written, the novel had myriad brilliant metaphors intertwined with the central message of the novel. However, there were several ridiculously cheesy "...and god loves me because..." moments and the ending fizzled out and died. For the experience and contemplation on the difference between religion and spirituality, I'd say that this is a 7/10. I'd suggest it to someone who is quick to question their religion but still wants to remain faithful to that religion.

Just started both of these, and just finished: Which was a little bit of a let down after everything I'd heard about it, to be honest. I was really hoping for something much more disturbing and revealing. Instead of the emotional challenge the quotes on the book promised, I mostly found myself going "I pretty much agree with this, though that might've been a bit harsh for the situation". |

Just finished Our friends from Frolix 8. A good story for the most part although I've started to realise whenever I finsish a PKD novel I'm always left feeling disapointed with the ending then again I'm only reading them as entertaining sci-fi yarns when from what I keep reading they're actually very philiosophical so maybe I just don't see the deeper meaning enough.
a/w next up is Ed:The Millibands and the making of a labour leader. I hate that subtitle. It's so unwieldy isn't it?
