Great book, and the only one that seems to have translated well to film. I'm a huge John Irving fan. The Cider House Rules is my favorite book of all time, but the screenplay (written by Irving) didn't do the novel justice at all.

So you would recomd I should read The World According To Garp?

Yeah Its really good. John Irving is definitely my favorite fiction author. I think Garp pales in comparison to Ciderhouse, but its a great read nonetheless.

On The Road wasn't as good as people made it out to be =/

The first chapter Of most of Irving's books can be a bit laborious to get through, Irvings all about setting the stage, so to speak, but once you get through all that its gravy.

There are people who click with On the Road and people who don't. I'm also one of the ones who don't get it, but maybe one day I will.

just started Haunted by Chuck Palahnuik. I would have to say he's my favorite transgressional writer.

I read online last night that the first story in Haunted, "Guts" is responsible for 70-somthing faintings.
