Finally finished it. Gotta say, it was a bit of a chore. He's obviously an insanely talented writer but the style here was a bit difficult to get through. He explains it at the end of the book, seeing as how it's a historical fiction novel, he had to make a compromise between staying true to the period he writes about and being legible.
Other than that, I can't say I'm really that drawn to the Japanese culture, especially from 2 centuries ago. :\ Onwards and upwards: Jonathan Franzen - Freedom

I finished PD James' Children of Men. It was an excellent commentary on many modern social issues (birth control, eugenics, etc) and had a fantastic plot, but the ending felt very unrealistic (within the context of the world that James created, that is) and rushed. Overall I'd say it was a 4/5, good read for anyone interested in Science Fiction.

Just finished this one:
Gotta say, while this book was pretty good, I think I enjoyed the movie a little more. They are almost exactly the same, word for word in alot of spots, however the ending of the movie was much more fulfilling. About to start this one back up again:

"Adrian Mole: The Prostate Years" by Sue Townsend. I reccomend reading all the books back to back starting with when he is 13 up to the present 39 if you really want to understand the most current book (You almost feel like you are Adrian Mole sans airplane stuck to your nose ). Just an absorbing series.
