I just finished reading Geek Love.
It's basically about a traveling freak show family in which the father makes the mother take a lot of drugs while she's pregnant in order to create freakish children.
I recommend it to anyone who loves feeling uncomfortable while reading a book.

In addition to Gravity's Rainbow and Neuromancer (William Gibson), I'm also reading bits and pieces of poetry from Robert Frost, Elizabeth Browning, Wordsworth, Rimbaud

I think she's making you read it because it will help boost your confidence if you read it properly.
