Animal Farm seems like it would be similar to 1984 because it also starts off pretty slow. However, it's super interesting as you keep reading, especially if you're interested in communism because it parallels the book really well.

At the moment, I'm about to finish Zen an the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, which has been a brain **** so far but I'm really enjoying it.

my first King book. we'll see how it goes...
It is a goodie.

I myself am on the path to reading All of King's works. Only a few down so far, Carrie and Salem's lot were the standouts.

But really, there is so much more substance in the book that I can't help but keep reading.

Not to say the movie was bad necessarily. I've just decided that I'm never watching another movie based on a Stephen King novel until I've read it.
You should read "Bag Of Bones." It's a great book, and there isn't a movie yet (will be in 2011)

i've actually given up on it. it's just too dreadfully slow for my tastes, and i really don't like the writing style - i would almost describe it as "goofy".

moved on to Memoirs of an Invisible Man by H.F. Saint, which i'm enjoying quite a lot.

Yeah, this is amazing book!
Have you seen also movie 1984? Mostly books are better (for me) but I think I can recommend this movie too.

Now I have period of easy fantasy reading... I am reading Tolkien - Silmarillion.

No I haven't but it looks pretty cool, so I might check it out. Although Winston looks NOTHING like how I imagined him.

Imagination is THE main reason why books are better than movies
But anyway... I guess you will enjoy this movie too.

1984 - IMDB

The silent house - Orhan Pamuk

Apparently there's no English edition.

Just finished reading this one, a nice little mystery novel from an author I had never heard of. Picked it out of a throwaway pile from work and ended up getting into it. I checked out the author and she doesn't seem to have too much stuff that sounds like its my type of read, maybe this is her only good book? Who knows. I give this one 7.5/10

I just started reading this one after I read American Psycho. I'm now going to read everything Ellis has ever written, the guys a genius. Less Than Zero is good so far, but I'll report back when I'm done.
