Really?! I loved Bright Lights Big City, I was hooked by the first chapter. He's a good author, if you like Ellis then you'll like McInerney, he isn't so damned self absorbed. In their little "Literary Brat Pack", McInerney would be best, Tama Janowitz is a joke.

Got this one from the library for the weekend. It's an anthology of classic fairytales like Little Red Riding Hood, Snow White etc re-written in flash fiction form and with added, sinister twists at the end of each piece. Pretty damn fine stuff when all's said and done. |

Das Blonde Zigarettenmädchen (Original title: The Big Gamble) by George H. Cox
Nothing's better than a detective story to learn a new language. So I'm kind of reading this too...

In Croatian. Before that I read Prokleta avlija (The damned yard) by Ivo Andrić (author of one of the best books I've read in the last couple of years, The bridge on the Drina. Pick it up if you haven't already), which was short (100 pages) and deals with similar themes as The bridge on the Drina (short stories from the Ottoman empire).

I finished Lullaby by Chuck Palahniuk and read Farenheit 451. I loved Lullaby, way more than Fight Club, but Farenheit 451 let me down a bit. I thought it was gonna be great, since it's supposed to be a classic, and the story and themes were good, but I couldn't really connect with the writing style. Just a huge let down, because I had such high expectations.
Anyways, I think I'm gonna have a stab at 1984 or Lord of the Flies. |

Just finished Trainspotting, and very soon to finish Watchmen. They're both great, but I think I'll probably want to reread them both eventually, cause there's a lot going on in them that can't all be caught on a first read-through. |
