Well, that was the only book of his I've read, and I'm not exactly rushing out to buy another.

Under the Dome - Stephen King

I'm sad to say that I've never read a Stephen King book ever, until this one. But what a great place to start. I feel like I've been missing out on something wonderful. The character development is spot on, detailed but not boring and makes you feel connected to the story and the people. This book has "MOVIE" written all over it!

Then, this is next on my list to read:
Push - Sapphire

It's short, which I think I will need after reading 1075 pages of King. Plus, the story seems interesting and personal. I haven't seen the movie (Precious), so I'm looking forward to the book that much more.

Is that Stephen King book new? I don't recognize it. Another great one by him is The Shining, which I'm sure you've probably heard of.

I thought you said The Shining was one of your favorite movies? Though I guess the book and the movie have some major discrepancies. I appreciate both of them for their differences.

Yeah, I really do think his books and the film adaptations are quite different. I think most of his stuff works really well as films, in fact I have quite enjoyed many films that have come from his fiction. But I've tried many times to read his books but never enjoyed them :/

Well I can't speak for him as a whole, I haven't read much. I just really liked The Shining. Definitely very different from the movie. Did you see the TV movie they made that tried to stay more true to the book? It sucked!

i read somewhere stephen king hasn't liked a single movie adaptation of any of his books. i do like original shining and i saw that tv movie you are talking about, too...it was really bad. i knew as soon as they replaced him flipping a driver off with "hey buddy, read between the lines" it was going to be no good.

the book was amazing as well...i really liked carrie, too

I'm all over the place with my books right now, but this is what is currently sitting next to me, resenting the fact that it's being ignored... we'll be on the flight soon and then I'll read you... no god dammit I've got **** to do on the computer.

Anyways, insanity aside, it's a hardcover collection of almost all H.P. Lovecraft's writing... and I got it all for 7 dollars Canadian :D

Now I've gone back to the PKD short stories.

Indeed you do, everyone who likes horror needs at least ONE Lovecraft book on their shelf or on their computer. I liked this one because it had pretty much everything the man ever wrote and it was 7 dollars, shit my lunch beer was more expensive than the book itself.
