American Gods by Neil Gaiman. ****in' brilliant. And I second the Book Thief sucking, it's horrible.

Just finishing up this book:
Under the Dome - Stephen King

I'm sad to say that I've never read a Stephen King book ever, until this one. But what a great place to start. I feel like I've been missing out on something wonderful. The character development is spot on, detailed but not boring and makes you feel connected to the story and the people. This book has "MOVIE" written all over it!

Then, this is next on my list to read:
Push - Sapphire

It's short, which I think I will need after reading 1075 pages of King. Plus, the story seems interesting and personal. I haven't seen the movie (Precious), so I'm looking forward to the book that much more.

^Isaw that in the bookstore literally the day before I heard about the movie. It didn't really seem like some thing I'd enjoy though.

The Stephen King on the other hand I might check out. I've never read anything by him either but I've been wanting to for a while.

Do it. The size of the book is a little intimidating, but it's well worth the read and easy to stick with. It will hold your interest, and it get's better and better the further you dive into it.

Russell Kirkpatrick - Across the Face of the World

Fantasy story, sorta like LOTR I suppose. It's a trilogy, and I'm betting I'll be reading the next two as I'm really enjoying his style with this one.

I'm not generally intimidated by big books, but I got burned by King reading the 'extended cut' of The Stand which could easily have been 300 pages shorter without losing a thing.

I think I'm the only person on here that doesn't like Stephen King.

Well, that was the only book of his I've read, and I'm not exactly rushing out to buy another.

Is that Stephen King book new? I don't recognize it. Another great one by him is The Shining, which I'm sure you've probably heard of.

I thought you said The Shining was one of your favorite movies? Though I guess the book and the movie have some major discrepancies. I appreciate both of them for their differences.
