The main character's name is Toru Okada. I always wondered where the band got it from.

I just finished that a couple of days ago. I do agree it is highly overrated, but it is still a great book. I really like how Holden calls everyone else a phony yet he is just as phony himself. Not to mention J.D. Salinger is a hermit and watches over the publishers shoulder to see when his next pay check will be.

Anyways I am now reading Moby Dick and I am going to read Paradise Lost after I finish it.

I can see where you would think that, cause there are definitely better books out there. But I wouldn't discredit it just because there are huge fanatics out there.

I'm not doubting it's value as a work, I'm merely saying that I was mislead as to how good it would be.
I definately see some of myself in Holden, especially the qualities that exemplify a general disdain for all mankind.
