Not reading anything right at this moment, but I just finished readng The History Of Hard Rock, it was not a book but a fairly thick magazine from Hit Parader that covered everything from Cream to Alice Cooper, Led Zepplin, AC/DC, Rob Zombie to Tool, Slipknot, Disturbed, Slayer, you name it. It also talk a little bit about hard rock from the 21st century but the only name they mentioned that I enjoy was BFMV and Trivium. Anyways though, it was a good read.

Dylan: Visions, Portraits, and Back Pages

Despite having a forward by Bono, I find the book very interesting. It details his life and career as one would expect, but it also has alot of things you wouldn't expect. Such as a section Dylan's lovers, to a section on his drug use. The book is complete with interviews from virtually everyone, Dylan himself, Joan Baez, The Beatles, fans who attended some of his most famous gigs, pretty much everyone. The book details on in depth process of recording album from his first to Love and theft. There is also a section on the 100 greatest Dylan songs and each is given atleast a paragraph from one of his musicians admirers such as Paul McCartney. Pretty much everything you'd ever want to know about Dylan in this book. I'm digging it. Also no page is pictureless, YAY!

This was a very enjoyable read and the artwork was beautifully done.

My mom use to read this when I was younger but I most far more into Spawn so I never bothered to read them. My library had an issue so I decided to see what it's like and so far I'm enjoying it, incredibly down to Earth and does things with a certain sense of humor, like Astro City's version of the Justice League that issue points to heroes per piece of merchandise sold, the more points the hero has the more respect amongst the group they have.

I read Junky for the first time about this time of year but then really started getting into RPG books and things related to the game so I never really got to follow up on any of his other work. I've heard good things about this, someone told me that it severely influenced Irivne Welshe's debut novel Trainspotting (which is my all time favourite book) so I decided it's a good place to start.

I've read Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs and IV and really found myself enjoying Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs more than IV. Regardless it was there at the library and I couldn't find anything else that interested me so I decided why not.

Finished up The Rum Diary by Thompson about a week ago, just moved on to Hard Boiled Wonderland and The End Of The World by Murakami, so far I'm really enjoying it. Probably the most inventive novel I've read by him yet.

I'm reading Bill Bryson - A Walk In The Woods. I've read it before a while back, but I was book-less whilst enjoying the sun in the garden today so picked up something for light reading. Really funny, still cracks me up.

Me, I thought RUM DIARY read like a practice run by a talented writer who hadn't hit his stride...

...and I understand the movie takes some weird liberties. We'll see

I haven't read much of his work save Fear & Loathing, so I don't have much to compare it to, but I definitely enjoyed it. Could have done without some of the loose ends but solid read nonetheless.

Ashley if you like Hunter S. Thompson then there's a comic series called Transmetropolitan that you have to read. The main character is called Spider Jerusalem and he's essentially Hunter S. Thompson in the future but he's armed with a gun that makes you shit yourself. Incredibly well written and it's being re-issued.
