One of his best mixing his usual heroic fantasy with historical facts.

Great book. Interesting twist on the whole detective noir genre.

And I thought the plot was a lot more satisfying than Cavalier and Clay, which was more meandering and at times really odd.

They're both great though.

Yeah, I'm not much for Ayn Rand's philosophies, but so far I'm actually enjoying it (I'm about halfway through part 1).

I started to read this a while back but got side tracked by something else...just recently picked it back up. Haven't yet got to the part that talks about the dark underworld of how fast food is made and handled yet...but I'm really looking forward to it!

I'm only 30 pages in but I'd agree with you on C. & C.. For some reason I wasn't really that impressed with it (although I appreciate it's technical brilliance and the enormous amount of research that went into it). I love noir so it should be good...(:

The point of her philosophy was to put the pursuit of one's own happiness above all else. In other words she believes that one should hold one's own happiness over the pursuit of "truths." Her philosophy was shallow because she did not necessarily have the desire to go into all of those details.

For what she tried to accomplish, to defend capitalism from a moral standpoint, she did it better than anyone.

Also I am reading Atlas Shrugged, Julius Caesar, and hopefully Frankenstein. I don't own Frankenstein, but I have to read it for school. I am trying to get through all of Shakespeare's plays this summer though. I love Shakespeare and it would be great to know all of his plays. Plus, I can read them online for free.

A friend of mine lent it to me, it's about a sociology professor who follows and interviews a gang who live and operate in a Chicago project, as well as the other residents in that project.

Until exams are over, all I have to look forward to each day is going to bed and reading this:
