Oh christ yeah it's heavy going and the flowery language sometimes just goes over my head but there is definite beauty in there even if it is laced with melancholia. It is uplifting in it's own unique way which was the point of his writings. I guess we will never truly understand the full nature of his words due to something being lost in the translation process.

I had no idea that they were coming out with a movie. There was the Gonzo documentary, which I felt like wasn't that great. In my opinion, if you want to learn about thompson, read his books.

just watched the gonzo doc a few weeks ago,......kinda bland

I've seen the movie two times now. I really liked the movie for what it was. Although to me it could have been much better, I still need the satisfaction of the good read in those books. I've been interested in much worse.
