I just started, but I'd say its as good or better. I can't make any real judgment until after I'm finished though.

You need to read more books then.
I recently picked up The Wind Up Bird Chronicle... I was intruged. So far so good, Murakami is a very fluent writer, or at least the translation is.

I read Everything is Illuminated several moths ago, and I just started this yesterday. Johnathon Safran Foer is becoming one of my favorite authors, I hope he writes another novel soon.

This is sitting right in front of me. I haven't opened it yet though I've had it for like a month. Except to look at the pictures, heh.

I thught it was amazingly descriptive, detailed, and generally interesting for a "Young Adult Fiction".

I picked up Murakami's Kafka on the Shore. Blew me away.

Right now tryin to get some vonnegut (timequake) and a book called Life of Pi done before school. Life of Pi though is aggravating me though, something about the guy's writing I suppose.
