So I'm going to finally have a DS Pokemon title tomorrow (Soul Silver) and it turns out I can't catch Growlithes on it. Is there anyone here that would be willing to catch one for me in a game where they're available and trade it with me? I'll obviously still be a noob at that point but I want a Growlithe to the point where I'd willingly trade my starter for one which has got to be worth it to collectors.

Is the Pokemon game worth buying? I used to love Pokemon and I'm still fond of it and need reviews. I play a lot of games so am pretty easy going about it.

Which generation of it did you want to play? There are so many of them out now.
I guess start from the beginning and witness the horror of the first generation. It's still a good rpg game though. I'm sure you could play it through an emulator.

Horror? I am pleased that it's an RPG, I really enjoy them. What is your favourite generation?

There's five generations so far with a sixth on the horizon. They are:
Gen 1 (Game Boy): Red, Blue and Yellow, the first Pomemon games ever made. They're completely broken and massively outdated by today's standards so I'd avoid. Gen 2 (Game Boy Colour): Gold, Silver and Crystal. This is where most people consider the series' high point to be but again, they're pretty dated. Gen 3 (Game Boy Advance): Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald are pretty solid games with a proper set of graphics and some consistently good Pokemon design but finding them might be a bit difficult. There's also Fire Red and Leaf Green, remakes of the Gen 1 games. They tend to get a lot more praise than they deserve thanks to nostalgia. Gen 4 (DS): Diamond, Pearl and Platinum were the first DS titles and I've never played them but I hear they're enjoyable enough but to many they represent the point where the guys behind designing Pokemon started phoning it in a bit. And there's Heart Gold and Soul Silver, remakes of the second gen games that are very highly regarded by the majority of fans. Gen 5 (DS): You've got Black and White, which I've also never played. They take place in a more urban American-styled world than the other games and while most people like them their Pokemon design gets a lot of flak. And there's Black 2 and White 2 which I know nothing about other than how you're able to visit worlds from others gens in them. Gen 6 (3DS): X & Y. Haven't been released yet and I don't know all that much about them other than a new Fairy type being added. Personally I'd advise getting Heart Gold because then I'd be happy to help you evolve some troublesome types and get access to certain 'mons that only appear in Soul Silver but if you want the most up-to-date experience then Black 2 or White 2 is the way to go. Or you could wait for X & Y. I've completely forgotten the release date but they're not too far away. |
