Denis Leary.
I thought he was funny when I was a teenager and caught No Cure For Cancer on Channel 4. Then he really did repeat the same jokes over and over.
Just doesn't seem as funny years later. Last edited by aaron76; 05-06-2009 at 04:00 AM. |

I watched some of his stand up recently and I wasn't impressed at all. I liked him on Mock The Week and Argumental but I watched his set for Live at the Apollo and it wasn't for me. He came on stage and started insulting his audience immediately, singling individuals out and mocking them and whereas on occasion he may have been quite funny doing so it just all seemed too easy. Any idiot can do that but it doesnt make you a comedian.
Lee Evans used to be my favourite comedian, back when I was in school. I may not like him as much anymore but he is still funny. It's easy to criticise him as he isnt exactly very original, he isnt exactly very spontaneous and as you say his material isnt exactly overly intelligently written but he's a great physical comedian and he's very energetic. I feel that gets overlooked sometimes. |

Mitch Hedberg is my absolute favorite. But of course heroin kills yet another person I like. Figures.
Other favorites: Bill Hicks, Stephen Lynch, Demetri Martin, Eddie Izzard, Jim Gaffigan (sometimes... I have to be in the right mood for him), Tommy Tiernan, Steve Martin, Eddie Ifft, and Dave Chappelle. I used to be way into Denis Leary, but kinda grew out of it once I figured out that he's basically a half-assed George Carlin ripoff with more Irish. I do have to admit that I like Dane Cook (when he's not in movies) but hate his fans. They ruin the jokes for me. Them: "Oh, you like Dane Cook too? [insert MASSIVELY overtold Cook joke/routine here] LOLOLOL HE'S SO FUNNEEEE AND HAWT. I WANT HIS BABIES." Me: [shotgun mouthwash]
