No thanks.
I can understand the criticism in that. However, I still don't believe that the book is badly written. There's never 'nothing for the characters to do' in a book, if that's the case the writer thinks of something. I just think, looking at Hunter's lifestyle, he was trying to get some of the craziness and utter self-delusion across in a humerous way. Everyone has a different sense of humour, which is why people either seem to love the book or hate it.

To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee.
I found out only yesterday that this person was a woman.
For years I assumed the author was a man.

Default Fear and loathing in las vegas

While on the surface the movie may seem pointless it actually has a lot of symbolism. The basic synopsis revolves around journalist Raoul Duke and his attorney, Dr. Gonzo, as they arrive in 70's Las Vegas to report on the Mint 400 motorcycle race. However, they soon abandon their work and begin experimenting with a variety of recreational drugs, such as LSD, cocaine, mescaline, and cannabis. This leads to a series of bizarre hallucinogenic trips, during which they destroy hotel rooms, wreck cars, and have visions of anthropomorphic desert animals, all the while ruminating on the decline of American culture. If you noticed while watching the movie the american flag is everywhere in this movie, and only really in the parts right before and after they go crazy. Before they enter the circus they use an american flag to take ether with. and while inside the circus the whole scene is full of symbols.
Watch the movie again and focus on "the american dream" and how they make fun of it. I'm having to write a paper on it in my college composition class and its actually one of the hardest things i've had to write because of how hard it is to see the themes and symbols.

I don't understand how you can love the book but hate the movie, it captures the spirit of it quite perfectly.

And Depp has yet to give a less than stellar performance IMO. Even in his worst films, he's usually the one good thing about it.

Anything less from Terry Gilliam would be a disappointment.
