Led Zeppelin - Fool in the Rain - Lyrics Meaning

Fool in the Rain was released on the 1979 album, "In Through the out Door".

The man in the song has fallen in love with a girl and he thinks that she feels the same way about him. He is wondering if he misread the look in her eyes because she hasn't shown up to meet him. As he stands on the corner waiting and getting anxious about seeing her, he continues to second guess himself because she hasn't shown up yet, in spite of how she promised that she'd stay with him and that she was in love with him. He has apparently been stood up in the past and he's hoping that this is not going to be another disappointment. After continuing to wait and watch the time, he discovers that he's waiting for her on the wrong block. He runs through the rain to the right block in hopes that she hasn't left. It turns out that he must have been so preoccupied with the excitement of meeting his date that he wasn't paying attention to where he was waiting - "The thoughts of a fool's kind of careless" tells that he made a mistake and she wasn`t standing him up.
