The lyrics of Jesus Take the Wheel by Carrie Underwood explain the difficulty a woman is having managing her life and taking care of her child. She is beyond overwhelmed with the outcome of her life, and it seems as if everything that can go wrong for her will. She was driving home to visit her parents for Christmas, and she was low on gas as well as her faith. All she wanted to do was get home to "her Mama and her Daddy", and she was not paying attention to the driving conditions of the road nor how fast she was driving. The car ended up losing control and she realized as they were spinning on ice that her and her baby could easily die at that moment.

At this exact moment, she realized she could do no more on her own, and she needed Jesus to help her get through this situation as well as her life. She asked Jesus to take the wheel and to help steer her back to safety. Once her and her baby were safe in the car, she also asked for help with her life and realized that looking to Jesus may help her make her way out of the situation she is currently in.
