So, saw this just now and it got me to thinking about the right's view on 'woke'.
A wheelchair accessible picnic table. Let's say a city passes a law that requires these in public parks and spaces. Would the local Republicans scream WOKE over something like this? I guess the question is what the **** is the definition of woke anyway to the right?

The other night my very Trump supportive FIL thought "woke" was a word that liberals use to disparrage republicans and I couldn't help but laugh at the factthat he had no idea what "woke" even means.

So what does he mean? I think originally it was all about removing confederate statues, gender pronouns, Drag Queens in grammar schools, Nascar and the NFL making changes, and of course CRT, (a subject for another "does the right even know what it means" thread). Now I hear/read it tossed around about about the most ridiculous things - hence the picnic table question.

I think even liberals make fun of the term woke. Jon Stewart really went after them in his film, Irresistible. I think it was originally a rallying cry for identity politics that sort of backfired, much like the Politically Correct movement of the nineties.
Of course, the right has turned the term into something else and now they're the ones with egg on their faces. |

I think maybe one person years ago unironically said "Wake up, sheeple" and it's been a meme ever since but the right recently turned it into buzzword they think is real. Sort of like how they roll their eyes at "the tolerant left" as if anyone on the left ever self-describes themselves that way.
